The Things We Do For Love....

 ..Of Self

I saw this comedian from back in the day explain the relationship he has with 2 women in the same

household. He warns people that what he is doing isn't for everyone, but it works for him. The women don't seem like they have a problem either and the interview continues. However, it's not like this is new. The sister/wives have been shown on TV before as a reality show. As much rehearsal as they can have (being reality and all), it is meant so that the appearance of a "new normal" can happen. It doesn't work. In the time that one of those seasons aired completely, there has been at least one divorce and issues with a wife taking the sex day that was designated for someone else. Understand, that isn't new either and something those women had to expect was eventually going to happen. To date, Kody Brown, the polygamist says that he is in a monogamous relationship now. He says that having multiple wives became too much of a headache (if interested).

Personally and something I don't like to mention, when thinking of matrimony, you can't help to see the pitfalls and have to come up with some sort of solution. Mine use to be to have a house big enough that there is an east and west wing. When those times that his breathing is irritating to the core, just retreat to my side of the house until I can get it together because it's not his issue, it's mine. Yes, that part. Come to realize that he/she is not the problem. Why would breathing irritate you? Is it just breathing? Is it also chewing, dressing, talking...etc? Why do you think that is? Marriage is that God idea that we, as believers, would like to be successful doing because the alternative, God hates and we have already established that He said it isn't good (if it isn't good, it isn't God) for man to be alone (Genesis 2:18 AMP).

There comes a time when people have been alone far longer than they care to be. They look around and all of their friends are either married or have already made declarations not to be married after a certain age, but that isn't you. You've been waiting and maintaining the faith. Forty is sneaking around the bend and  the plans of parenthood would have you feeling anxious, but God. What was plan B? Well, it isn't ideal because we all like the in love, butterflies, and tingles part but there is that serious side and when you see someone that checks off most of the categories on your list, well...why not? You can love her as Christ loves the church gradually, right? She can love him like her brother in Christ and it can grow from there. It's not like this hasn't worked with other cultures for centuries. There's nothing wrong with it, right? Even scriptures say if you marry because you can't contain yourself, you did not sin (1 Corinthians 7:28 AMP). So, there you go...a viable plan B. Is God pleased?
How can He be pleased when the latter part of that verse says that you will have trouble?

Yes, trouble because you have to understand that the time in being single doesn't mean that's your free time to hunt for a mate. First, as women, we don't do the hunting, no matter what the world wants you to believe. Second, why aren't you practicing the things of God? You see, we were born in sin. The sinful nature is our natural way of doing things (Romans 7:15-25 AMP). Having sex without marriage is that sinful nature. Tingly and butterfly feelings are the sinful nature and will make trouble for you when you allow those feelings to be your guide (Proverbs 3:6 AMP). Minimizing the importance the nuclear family is to the adults, children, and the extended members is the sinful nature. Believing that it is healthy to argue in a marriage is the sinful nature. This is why God tells us to meditate in His Word day and night....(Joshua 1:8 AMP)! Why? To keep the sinful nature from having power over you.

These are the last days. Think on that for a moment. There used to be so many good looking people to choose from. And then we grow up and see things and people in a new way. The differences can make an absolutely gorgeous person ordinary; foolishness can make him average and like interests in Christ can make what someone sees as mundane but to you as the ideal mate. You'd think when it starts getting bleak, its time to panic and hurry to find anyone to marry. On the contrary, it's because of God being with you, that you noticed how slim the pick'ins had become (remember this one here). You see, just like teaching Adam to cloth himself, God taught us how to listen more and speak less. He taught us to be observant over the small things because its the details that can turn a painting into a master piece or a mess.

Be vigilant in the things of God. Stay sober-minded and alert because your heart will be tested and the enemy waits for your arms to be tired (1 Peter 5:8 AMP).
