Making It Plain

Social media continually evolves to where it is today. This comes from what people migrate to and based upon the current trends that influences the masses. There was a thread posted on a popular website where the question of marital vows are sanctioned by God. Truth be told, I asked the question. The focus was if the ambiguity of the vows were concentrated on fear. If not, then why won't a man include loving her as Christ loves the church (Ephesians 5:25 KJV)? The group where the question was asked was full of outspoken members. It wasn't surprising, seeing that the group is made up of mostly men, there were some hours that passed before answered. I specifically asked for scripture references seeing that an opinion would not be of any interest to me. Why that request, at first was disregarded, was also not surprising. However, I was surprised for a pastor to state that the love of both people was obvious and unnecessary to mention in the vows. Sigh. A young, single man interest...

This is a term I find impossible to do - make love. The world coined this term and has equated it with sex. As true believers, we know one has nothing to do with the other; therefore, why even use it? What's the purpose? Confusing? Keep reading so we can be on the same path - a clear, plain one. The bible clearly defines several times what Love is. The Word then, because of what we believe (Jesus is Lord), we know that He ( Love ) is the greater one housed in each of us. Understanding this, the bible then teaches of how to incorporate who and what He is into our lives. Jesus tells us of the greater commandments ( Matthew 22:37-40 AMP ). Paul defines Love in terms that can best be applied into our daily lives ( 1 Corinthians 13:3-9 AMP ). James makes reference to specific oppositional actions that tell us the love of God couldn't possibly be in such a person ( James 2:8-12 AMP ). The complacency of such a statement as if there is nothing to it, often happens when caught in the act. I know with the seasoned believer there wouldn't be such a phrase in the mind of one who knows that he/she is housing the Holy Spirit within ( 1 Corinthians 6:19 AMP ). In trying to make it a cliche is what the baby Christian might still be struggling to contend with. How to decipher what is old and what is new is why I write this entry. You must understand that its not as simple as it just being sex. Sex is more complicated then people have coined it to be over the last 30 years. Once there is an understanding that sex is meant to be monogamous, there will also be a clear perception of the new. The old has passed away ( 2 Corinthians 5:17 AMP ).
