It’s The Investment

Image
When making a financial investment, one considers many factors but the main component is to make more money. The intention on the investment has been planned for there to be a greater return whether it be financially, intellectually, or for the sake of a brighter future. One who invests has done enough homework to be confident in knowing that he/she is secure in allowing that substantial amount of money to no longer be as liquid as it once was. Because of their due diligence, there is no anxiety and no checking every 30 minutes to see if it’s matured or not. It’s a long termed investment; therefore, he/she can relax in knowing that the plan will be manifested and the capitol will be accessible soon enough ( Proverbs 29:18 AMP ). This entry came out of a short clip from the Steve Harvey Show. He has moments in the program where he allows the audience to ask life questions. Most of the questions are about relationships. This particular audience member asked about her 6 year relatio...

From The Root (part 2)

Image
There are some people you may consider to be absolutely wonderful. You have never seen him/her speaking a harsh word to anyone and has managed difficult situations masterfully. In school, he/she has prioritized to the point of you being envious with how well they have done throughout their academic career and as an adult, there has been no difference only more improvements. Everyone agrees, if you don't make this person your intended, you have lost the good sense God gave you. Have you met such people? When I was a child, the adults would tell me to watch out for those quiet ones. It was a warning I adhered to until I read in the scriptures to remain quiet shows wisdom ( Proverbs 17:27-28 AMP ). Are both pieces of advise good? Can people show good fruit because they have sown good seed? Why be apprehensive? See, if that question can be answered in part 2 of this dating inquiry:  2. You are so devoted and in love with your intended. This person is everything and more that you've...

I Had This Feeling

Image
Do you remember when you first believed and the Holy Spirit came to visit? That all consuming peace and love made every situation seem menial. There is a measure of confidence that comes in with Him along with wisdom and answers to questions you thought you'd never get the answers to. That feeling of motivation to do what you are called to do. It's what keeps you quiet when you want to speak your mind and it's what makes you speak up when it's not the popular thing ( Acts 2:1-4 AMP ). I loved that feeling so much. I wanted it with me always; believing that going to church services would strengthen it causing me to always do the right thing. And then, seemingly all of a sudden I noticed it seeping away when justifying looking at television programs that weren't edifying ( Luke 21:34 AMP ). I noticed it seeping away when getting angry and saying the wrong thing ( Ephesians 4:29 AMP ). I noticed it seeping away thinking of matters from the past longer than I should h...

The Fruit It Bares

Image
The bible describes the righteous like a tree grown by the rivers of living water ( Psalms 1:3 AMP ). The scripture also tells us that we know a tree by the fruit it bares ( Matthew 7:17-20 AMP ). If you didn't already know, it is the Lord showing us how we can discern the types of people that are around us without saying too much. Just listen and watch what people do. It doesn't take long before it is shown if their intentions are for your good or demise. In the dynamics of relationships and dating for the purposes of marriage, it is paramount not to be impulsive and make quick decisions that eventually can be regrettable. There was this family of seven. The mother had 5 boys with 5 different men. She was engaged to a man who was willing to be a father to all five…only, because all were considered adults but one was a teenager, he was going to be undoubtedly challenged. He married her. Does that mean he accepted the challenge? The boys, from the eldest to the youngest began to...

The Background Check

Image
The wonderful world of technology has opened up so many different devices and strategies to use for business, school, understanding economy, investments, social media, and personal relationships. But along with the wonderfulness of what can be discovered, there are those who don't have the best of intentions like the cyber-hacks, social media trolls, the Karen/Kevin types, and those that make a profit from the stress of all of it. I recall hearing a sermon about getting all of the information one can get about a person before going out on a date by using the internet. The sermon expounded on believing that the internet has all of the necessary tidbits one needs. Granted, finding that a person is an ex-felon convicted of a host of crimes maybe information he/she needed to know. He, the speaker, also mentioned the temperament of the other as well as deciding to make future plans with this person…or not. The summary was being able to protect yourself. It sounds like good information....

If You Aren't Part of The Solution...

Image
I had to take 2 sips of coffee before starting this one. It is a task to write in a Christian blog and not get your feelings involved. You see, the subject matter happens to be a passion of mine because there have been entirely too many ministers, preachers, evangelists, so-called teachers, pastors, and bishops that qualify themselves to minister the Word of God laced with the opinions of man and causing for there to be more detriment than good. God didn't tell the 5-fold ministry to do that. Preaching the "good news" was all that was required. No one got up to put on their finest to hear about what your wife cooked or didn't, what your children could have been, or why you moved into your third mansion when most of the congregation is struggling to pay one utility bill. Okay, what happened! Don't ask me that. This isn't gossip. It took me some time to digest the information, have an epiphany, be flabbergasted, and then come up with an entry that is for edifica...

Preparation

Image
I used to be a seamstress when I was in college trying to make ends meet. I learned that it wasn't the garment I was really trying to sell but all of the small details that made the garment better then what a customer could purchase off the rack. Not only was it custom fitted, it had closed or French seams so the construction of the garment was durable even in the wash. I would add expensive buttons and leather accents when needed. The design would be simple enough but with all of the details, it made the customer come back to see what else I created. That's business. It's what all business owners do to maintain a brand ( Proverbs 6:9-11 AMP ). Should this be any different in a marriage or establishing a relationship for marriage? We already discussed thoroughly how the dating process is more like an interview then anything else. We know that if you become distracted with the dress to impress and all of the flattering words, you lose sight of the whole purpose for the dat...

He's Really A Good Guy, But....

Image
There is this sentence I have heard parents describing their sons, girlfriends describing their exes or baby's daddy, or current wives describing their husbands, not realizing that the moment they use the word but , it completely diminishes whatever good thing that was said previously. Was that intentional? First, it is a topic that has been taught before. Its been discussed and in some cases completely disregarded because of the state of the individual interested in getting into a relationship for the purposes of marriage. There are steps necessary to find if the guy is really good or just pretending to be ( Luke 6:45 AMP ). I just thought of another reason for the disregard to instruction ( Proverbs 10:17 AMP ). It is the definition I use for good. It would seem the meeting of the standard would be an extreme and therefore doesn't wish to try. The standard being...God. It is written, God is good. Because He created man in His image, He expects for man to return to the basi...

The Sinner With Religious Ways

Image
Too many people are mistaken with what faith is as opposed to being religious. When someone emphasizes that he/she has emphatically attended a specific thing religiously, it is supposed to mean  that the person watched over it more than just daily. It is a term used casually, yet we all know what is meant by it. Unfortunately, no matter how often a person attends church services, 365 days of the year and twice on Sunday, it does not mean he/she is a person of faith or has pleased God under any stretch of the imagination. Often people have been convinced because someone has been raised in church from the time of being a newborn into adult hood, has learned the bible belt lingo, along with how to do the "Holy Spirit" dance, and has his/her own way of "hooping" when speaking of the goodness of God - it's still not the tell all sign of a person being a true Christian ( Matthew 7:15-20 AMP ). I know of a person who delighted in the Jehovah's Witness members ...

Don't Ruin The Image

Image
Eventually we come to an age in our lives where we think we need to portray a certain kind of image of ourselves. Whether this image comes from a movie character, an actual person that has influenced our lives or one of our own family members, it is still a decision we make to continue to function successfully day by day. The funny thing is, when we decide to choose an image that isn't real like a movie character, many times we act as if our lives is a sitcom as well. I recall in high school, and couldn't possibly forget him, was this guy who would come to my French class and make all of these nonsensical rantings at the threshold of the door. He would have this nice looking side kick that didn't say anything but follow after him like some whipped puppy. This guy would finish what ever rambling he'd have to say and then pound one side of the door and with a loud, "Ay!" , make this body gesture with his hands from the sides of his body and then leave. He was...

Lift Every Voice?

Image
There aren't too many reasons why people marry. There aren't too many reasons why people come to church to find the ideal person with whom they would like to spend the rest of their lives. There have been entirely too many people that has allowed their eyes to make that call rather than hearing what the calling (Spirit led) has to say. It is the last statement that should create interest to this new generation of believers so that any unwanted cycle in "the family" can stop right now ( Matthew 7:15 AMP ). During the dating process, initially, eyes are all a twinkle and we do put on our best behavior; why this behavior isn't constant would be up to the willing participants of the date to see and make a quality decision afterward. When I was in my late teens, I went on a date with this absolutely gorgeous man. I was elated that he not only found me attractive but was stammering in trying to get my phone number. He didn't know I was elated and the calmer I co...

Gentlemen, What Are You Looking For?

Image
Knowing that dating has the purpose for marriage, should she assume that you are looking for a wife or would you make that known to her at the onset of the invitation? Do you think if you were forthcoming to her about your purpose it would scare her? Do you believe by not telling her right away you are  being gentle or deceitful? I write to sons of God who know who they are and what they seek. Sons of God know the importance of the anointing and they don't take what they see as precedence to what the voice of God tells them. Anyone else would dispute what they are about to read and with good reason. It is too much. But to those ready for the journey, let's go. The journey is to find what you are looking for - a wife (Proverbs 18:22 AMP). You know that in order for you to do what you've done thus far, took the anointing of God (Philippians 4:13 AMP) , right? The ability that you now have as opposed to the life you were once living, you can see the hand of God, right? So t...
