Preparation

I used to be a seamstress when I was in college trying to make ends meet. I learned that it wasn't the garment I was really trying to sell but all of the small details that made the garment better then what a customer could purchase off the rack. Not only was it custom fitted, it had closed or French seams so the construction of the garment was durable even in the wash. I would add expensive buttons and leather accents when needed. The design would be simple enough but with all of the details, it made the customer come back to see what else I created. That's business. It's what all business owners do to maintain a brand ( Proverbs 6:9-11 AMP ). Should this be any different in a marriage or establishing a relationship for marriage? We already discussed thoroughly how the dating process is more like an interview then anything else. We know that if you become distracted with the dress to impress and all of the flattering words, you lose sight of the whole purpose for the dat...

What's the Difference?

Because faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God (Romans 10:17 KJV), I can't help but to stress over and over the importance women of God have to raise the bar and not settle for anything less than what God has prepared for us. I woke this morning and had an epiphany: why would I want to take care of a man? Why should a man date a potential wife by making sure she knows how to cook  and clean first? That just sounds more like a job interview for a maid. Does a woman come into a marriage with the preconceived notion that the dynamics of her marriage is based on her physical ability to do household maintenance? What can a man do? What does he have issues with? He can't do laundry and that's why he needs a wife? If she marries him for that, she deserves what she gets? Can he cook? If he can't, get a cookbook!!! That is still not a reason to get married. What does he need a wife for? The bible doesn't state that she needs a husband until after the fa...

The Foundation

In the dating basics what should already be laid before building of anything is a sure foundation. The Word tells us that if a house is built on sand it will fold at the first gust of wind but built on a rock will cause the house to stand in the midst of a storm ( Luke 6:47-49 AMP ). In Christianity, the rock to which I am referring is Love. Without love there is no Christianity. All of the works, thoughts, and gestures mean nothing. The Word tells us this ( 1 John 2:5-6 AMP). There must be some sort of practice set for this walk of love by which we can hang all of the commandments and the prophets on: to love the Lord with all of our heart, mind, and strength; also to love our neighbor as we would love ourselves ( Matthew 22:37-40 AMP ). This constant practice makes life so much easier. It is a little rocky at first much like a baby trying to take his first steps but just like the baby enduring those toddling years eventually walking is a habit and soon to be on his way runnin...
