Keep Your Friends Close...?

The complete saying is keep your friends close but your enemies closer. Not to completely dissect the sentence grammatically or what every single word means....like, the word,  but is there for the opposite of what was previously stated. Never mind having to keep your friends close as opposed to them wanting to be there in the first place, or that you know who your enemies are and would have them closer to you; none of those things can truly make or break you when having wisdom at the helm. Yet, what it can be is the relentless, nagging issue of what you constitute as a friend . Shock isn't even a close description of what I have discovered in these past few years of my life. I have watched people gravitate towards me with interest and we have talked to the point of exhaustion and still the next day have so much to say to each other. The give and take process of stimulating conversation is the fledgling seeds of a wonderful friendship. There is agreement, common interests a...

When Does Beauty Fade?

For many of us we take the chance with this verse in the bible because we are so enamored by what we see, we don't realize that love just doesn't work this way - especially for the devoted Christian. If you would recall, God is love and it is impossible to please Him without faith (Hebrews 11:6 KJV). Seeing that faith is the substance we hope for and the evidence not seen, how then can we equate love based on what we see? With this understanding, we can tell that beauty has already faded. The verse had also been taught that beauty fades because of age. But the verse doesn't say that. The lesson is taught based on again not experience but what has been seen. There are many of the elderly that if we saw a picture of what they looked like in their younger years, you couldn't recognize them. The mother of a high school classmate had family pictures on a mantel in her home. When I visited them, I saw the pictures and tried to examine them closer. The classmate's moth...

This is For The Guys Again, Sorry Ladies

Do you remember a movie entitled, "I'm Gonna Get You Sucka"  starring and directed by Keenan Ivory Wayans? If not, you should see it. Though released over 20 years ago (1988), it was one of the first African American films that had me laughing so hard I couldn't hardly breathe. At least with home viewing you can stop the DVD finish processing the scene, get up from rolling on the floor laughing, and start it again. Anyway, in the movie there was this one scene when Keenan's character met the woman of his dreams. She seemed to have fit all of his criteria and she was just as interested in him as he was in her. Not showing any signs of restraint they took it to another level and was going to have sex. She decided to be completely honest with him right then and show that all he saw that he was attracted to came off when she went to bed. When she was finished discarding all of her man-made parts, she began to hobble after him and his affection for her that he once h...
