Trust, A Weapon Formed Against You (part 1)?

Tony Orlando and Dawn was a singing group back in the 70's. Tony Orlando was singing well before then though. During that time, the hit, Tie a Yellow Ribbon was on the rise, and so was his weight. By the mid to late 70's, everyone noticed how he started to slim down. It looked effortless. He was on a talk show when the subject came up in an interview. Mr. Orlando explained that as a child and well into his adult years, he would always have a particular snack of a well known brand of chocolate cookie and milk. It seemed innocent enough when growing into his teen years and really wasn't noticing the weight gain until an adult. He didn't change much of his diet, he just stopped the seemingly innocent snack of milk and cookies. This is how the concept of trust has been used, something as simple as a childhood snack. When reading about relationships or studying about marriage and counseling couples, this concept is paramount in all aspects of the dynamic. Having the support...

Trust, A Weapon Formed Against You (part 2)?

Attending a Christian College to obtain a graduate degree, I was eager to begin the new semester. There were assignments, as usual, but my favorite part of any class was the essays. The essay we were to compose had to do with the subject matter of trust and where we learned this valuable lesson using scripture to substantiate the point of view. I don’t recall the content of the paper but I do remember some of the comments the professor had in the margins. He thought that the essay I wrote was funny. Still, at the end, he disagreed with my point of view and wrote, “ you have to trust someone .”  His comment perplexed me for several reasons. One, it’s a Christian institution and I assumed those teaching are Christian as well. The other thing was that I used scripture to make my point valid and it didn’t matter to him. Finally, I wondered why I was allowing this man to teach me anything if he was going to oppose the basics of trust? The remainder of that semester became difficu...

Where Are All of the Good Ones?

Image
There is a time in everyone's life where you constantly hear the complaints of relationships. Either you hope it never happens to you or not to become so cynical or you begin to wonder if the good ones your age have all gone. The idea of being so jaded as to think that men are all the same or that the good ones are already married, gone home to be with the Lord or about to be has to be a recipe to cringe. I allow patience to have her perfect work ( James 1:4 KJV ); because the alternative is listed above. When coming to the understanding that you can't trust anyone but God , I thought it was such an epiphany. Wisdom would continue to give me more nuggets and I would have the handle on finally being in a successful relationship. However, what happens is that while wisdom does what she does, life doesn't stop. People continue to change and one day you're hit in the face, like a brick hurled at full force. Those that had potential to be what you thought they would be, has ...

Gentlemen, What Are You Looking For?

Knowing that dating has the purpose for marriage, should she assume that you are looking for a wife or would you make that known to her at the onset of the invitation? Do you think if you were forthcoming to her about your purpose it would scare her? Do you believe by not telling her right away you are  being gentle or deceitful? I write to sons of God who know who they are and what they seek. Sons of God know the importance of the anointing and they don't take what they see as precedence to what the voice of God tells them. Anyone else would dispute what they are about to read and with good reason. It is too much. But to those ready for the journey, let's go. The journey is to find what you are looking for - a wife (Proverbs 18:22 AMP). You know that in order for you to do what you've done thus far, took the anointing of God (Philippians 4:13 AMP) , right? The ability that you now have as opposed to the life you were once living, you can see the hand of God, right? So t...
