It’s The Investment

Image
When making a financial investment, one considers many factors but the main component is to make more money. The intention on the investment has been planned for there to be a greater return whether it be financially, intellectually, or for the sake of a brighter future. One who invests has done enough homework to be confident in knowing that he/she is secure in allowing that substantial amount of money to no longer be as liquid as it once was. Because of their due diligence, there is no anxiety and no checking every 30 minutes to see if it’s matured or not. It’s a long termed investment; therefore, he/she can relax in knowing that the plan will be manifested and the capitol will be accessible soon enough ( Proverbs 29:18 AMP ). This entry came out of a short clip from the Steve Harvey Show. He has moments in the program where he allows the audience to ask life questions. Most of the questions are about relationships. This particular audience member asked about her 6 year relatio...

Just To Be Close

I think we all have a need to be loved and/or wanted. It seems to be basic and really understandable. Have couples come together with this understanding? Have they fared well? Was God pleased when these two met each other; one hoping to be needed and the other wanting to be loved? Don't those 2 words just euphemize desperation?   The Lord is My Shepherd, I shall not want ...., it is written. My God supplies all of my needs according to His riches in glory...., is is written . ...whatever state you are in, be content... it is written. So how then could God be pleased or the couple do well in the relationship if there is no faith in what God said is already yours in Him? Now love, that's a different matter altogether. Why would a Christian believe he/she isn't loved? I counseled such a person and I couldn't understand why she would say such a thing. I didn't have anything at the ready for her because I assumed if you claim to be a Christian, of course you have ...

Devotion

Image
Have you ever said a word so much that it lost all meaning? Have you ever thought you knew what a word meant until you saw someone else do it better then you ever could? While the first question might seem childish, try it. Say the word, devotion about 20 times. It should start to sound funny. Now think of any circumstance where this word describes your action or reaction. I liked to think that I was devoted to the ministry I attended for so many years. I volunteered in various areas of the ministry. I taught classes. I attended classes and I was beginning to look forward to being a part of the staff. Even when other ministers were leaving the parish for whatever the reason, it had nothing to do with me. I enjoyed the place I was in. I kept myself away from those that liked to gossip and focused on whatever task I was assigned to. My purpose was doing the will of God, not man. Then, without me knowing it, some of the stink that caused certain ministers to leave was coming for me. M...

Struggling and Wrestling

There is an irritating ignorance that seems to try and lurk arround explaining how normal it is to struggle when first getting married. I suppose if you stand on the principles of the world, then you can bandwagon down that journey of bumps, jagged edges, and hardships. Personally, I choose to follow Jesus. The funny thing is when choosing to follow our Lord and Savior, we are all in agreement within the confines of the church building (right?); however, when using the same MO ( modus operandi ) for life in solving the equations the world dishes out, some tried to resurrect that which has passed away ( 2 Corinthians 5:17 AMP ). It is considered to be natural to have struggles and concerns when newly married. Reason being, because of having to cope with another personality, the differences of opinion with daily tasks (being raised in two different households), and the presumption the other will change in a given period of time ( 2 Corinthians 6:14 KJV ). This makes sense; yet, wit...

Obligated

Image
Every time I think I went over a topic to exhaustion, something else arises to where I begin wondering whether I touched on that point enough or not and if I did, is it understood to where it has become common sense then anything else? Well, to some of us, most of these topics are common sense but only because of the Holy Spirit living on the inside of us while we are persistent in walking in love in all that we do. If you didn't know where that common sense came from, now you do. With that, let's understand the concept of obligation. To be obligated to someone is to be indebted to that person. It is a bill whether it being an actual, tangible document, or just an understanding that when it is time to collect on the debt, the person collecting is expecting payment at the point of asking. Let us all understand right out of the gate that the Word tells us to owe no man anything but to love him. With this in mind, there should be an immediate plan to get out of debt and stay o...
