Negotiations

I wrote in an earlier blog that it isn't romantic to think of dating like a social contract; but, if we did it would alleviate so much drama that is later discovered in the marriage. I still stand on that statement, only I have to add an addendum onto it. It is necessary to add this clause for those who are naive of others being without the purest of intentions. You do realize that there are people that come to church for the sole purpose of finding a mate and once that ring and vows are in place the loyalty of serving (helps ministry) becomes a distant memory. For this reason, I believe it is of the utmost importance for women as well as men to know what is negotiable and what isn't ( Habakkuk 2:2 KJV ). I recall a minister saying, "if you don't stand for something, you will fall for anything." He was referring to Christians voting at the polls during the election season; nevertheless, it is also appropriate here. Once realizing that this maybe the person you c...

Don't Worry

You think you have "the one" and all seems well, but you woke up this morning and thoughts of doubt have been pestering you about the relationship. Why now? Why when all has been going so well? Was it something you said or did that would cause these thoughts? Did he/she do something that changed the relationship and the lack of peace is proof of it ( Isaiah 26:3 KJV )? Is God talking to you? I ask these questions because it has happened to me and those that I have spoken to. There would be clear warning signs that the relationship isn't at all what one would think and because of the disregard to the warning signs we (meaning, I and those I spoke to) proceeded on and wished otherwise. I detest living my life in regret. It isn't really living the life that God promised at all ( John 10:10 KJV ). Therefore, I am writing this piece so you can have a clear path when taking the next step in the relationship; whether that be exclusivity or saying good bye. Last night aft...

Marketing

High School Economics teaches that because there is a demand there should be an increase in supply. If there is no demand, why then produce what no one desires to have? Once the desire is targeted, then marketing proceeds in order for that market to be capitalized on. Marketing is seemingly a strategy that is monopolized by the economic industry. This would not necessarily be true. People have taken a page out of the our high school textbooks and have used the same strategy in every aspect of their lives; however, for the purpose of this blog, I will focus on Christian dating. In my early twenties, married, and pregnant with twins, I was shopping in a grocery store with my sons' soon to be godmother and family friend. We happened upon a woman looking to be in her late forties shopping as well. I didn't know her but the family friend did. She introduced me and for the short time there in the market place we conversed. The way she and my friend spoke it was as if she had just d...

The Girl

I must say I did enjoy my childhood and being a girl wasn't as difficult as I thought it would be. I was convinced at a young age that boys had more fun and girls had to stay in the house and play with dolls to be good wives when the time came. I did the house thing but whenever my brother had that look in his eye that he was about to do something that he had never done before, I was attached to his hip. I have to admit, climbing trees and having bike races were more fun then waiting for that easy bake oven to finally kick out a cake the size of a mouthful (though I cook like a banshee now- whatever that means). In spite of those tom-boy tendencies, I was still my father's princess and liked getting those baubles that only a Dad can give to his daughter. I recall a birthday party where I received my first bicycle. It was blue and had a basket in the front and a bell on the right side of the handle bars. It was second hand bought but new to me. I was elated especially seeing t...

Those Tiny Crumb Snatchers!

I first must ask your forgiveness for not making more of a strong stance on a subject that is as important as life itself. I don't know how I got around to having this blog page for so long without making more of an emphasis on what God counts as His treasure. I suppose its because that I sensed and have been asked about so many other different subjects on Christian dating, I forgot that this is a new season, a new generation, and values have been tampered with. Though there have been issues and problems in the past that every generation finds more important then their predecessors, it doesn't take away from the fact that this generation has had more occurrences even with the information then any other ( Psalm 73 AMP ). Children... they are everywhere and the reports of the growing population decreasing have escaped me if there is any such document at all. I have written about parenting and the things we did or didn't get as children we have to watch so not to have those...

Books and Covers and Stuff Like That

I wrote a recent blog post about one knows a tree by the fruit it bares. it dove specifically into Christian Dating from more then being on the superficial level. You know what I mean, having the physical attraction first then maybe seeing whether you like the inside or not. Many times having the eye candy is all that is desired until maturity sets in then the proverbial rose colored glasses comes off. What ensues there after is not pretty. Why do you suppose that is? Could it be because walking by sight rather then by faith has its disadvantages ( Romans 8:5-14 AMP )? Be as it may, I woke this morning thinking about a client I use to have some years ago. While finishing my last year of an undergrad degree, I was employed as a Youth Specialist. In our cottage, there were 12 at risk teen aged girls that I, along with 11 other Specialists, were to monitor and redirect behavior for them to be mainstreamed back into society. One in particular that I met when she was 12 years old but loo...

Recognize The Wolf

I recently drew a poster I thought could be used for a movie advertisement; but upon close observation at the finished illustration , I thought about this deeper then what is in black and white. as many times as the children's story has been told, do we take those lessons and apply them in our Christian lives? This one screams of a moral and Spiritual ethical message. Its not understandable to me as to why I haven't heard it, other then the way the Lord is giving it to me now. Maybe some minister preached this message somewhere and I just wasn't there; this would not be true for you, I plan to keep this blog up for whomever is interested and needs to go back to it. In the children's story the little girl felt it necessary to explain to the wolf where she was going and what she was doing. In the story, the little girl gave the wolf all of the information he needed to know to gain access to a two course meal (the little girl and her grandmother) that he wouldn't ha...
