It’s Hard Work?

Image
This is another myth that has seeped into the church. Whether it was idle gossip, regurgitated sermons that were not prayed upon or researched before serving to the congregation, or just plain ignorance, it is a reason to stir the slurry and find the truth to be set free. Now let’s begin where God saw Adam and said it was not good for him to be alone ( Genesis 2:18 AMP ). The solution that God decided upon was to create woman. Please go over that chapter of scriptures before sending me your angry emails. It was not my decision to make woman for man.... ok? Go to God with your rant. So, there she is. She is woman. What do you want her to do Adam? He yells out (in my mind), “...bone of my bone. Flesh of my flesh...” Was that an answer? Yeah, I won’t go through all of that again. If you would like to read the verses and my issues with what I have been taught about Adam, please go to this link here  and here . Nevertheless, the 2 of them together were to replenish the earth and ...

Your Resume

As a Social Worker, I asked a client to tell me what would it take to make her happy? I was looking for something that she could work on about herself to begin her journey from where she is - in a shelter. Her answer was, a factory job. I didn't expect that answer. I must have asked the question wrong. I repeated myself explaining what I meant. She understood the question, she said and therefore repeated her answer. Oh, so we began there. She might not like the journey - nor would you if you choose to continue reading. What do you need to get a job? Now, what do you need to get and keep a good job? Such small words make a huge difference in a sentence also can make some people look hopeful while others roll their eyes to focus more on the first question. I recall it was difficult for me to begin a working career right out of high school if I didn't want to work a food service job. Employers were looking for experience, an education, or at least a specific look that could be an ...

Last Week I Went To The Store...

Image
Last week I went to the store to purchase some lotion (among a few other things). I went to the aisle where I knew it would be and saw it. Just before picking it up, right next to my usual brand, there was the store version with a sale price underneath it. It was $2.00 cheaper and was buy one get one free. How bad could the store brand be? I chose it but in picking it up, I saw there was the only one on the shelf. Still, putting it into my cart, it was $2.00 cheaper. Finishing the rest of my shopping, I went to the cashier. When he got to my lotion, I told him of the dilemma to quickly fix the problem. He ran the price checker over the bottle and said, "You're right." Did he do what I thought he was going to do? Call the stock person in the back to supply the demand and bring a bottle to the front? No, instead of reaching for the phone, he picked up a laminated paper, with some writing on it and said to me, " What I can do is reduce the price even further." He...

Refined

I went with my co-worker on an out trip to a large outlet mall. We shopped for a couple of hours and then went to get something to eat at a restaurant. We were brought 3 menus a piece and it wasn't long before the waitress asked for our order. We needed more time to go over everything. There was so much to choose from, I just quickly decided on a hamburger to let the anguish go. How can you mess up with a hamburger? We received our food after some time and it looked appetizing enough. I cut my burger in half before taking a bite. It was juicy, seemingly fresh, but there was something familiar about it that didn't make me stop eating it. After about the fourth bite, I realized that the chef makes hamburgers like my mother used to...only, my Mom made hamburgers on a shoe string budget. Often there were fillers in the burgers and they were always fried in the grease of the other burgers. I didn't know any better. I was a child. When we became older, the budget increased and ...

Responsibility (part 1)

This is a shout out to all ministers, pastors, preachers, evangelists, prophets, and teachers who believe God has given to you a Word from heaven to attack women about their responsibilities in a marriage ( James 3:1-2 AMP ). I have heard sermons since I was 13 years old (a year prior to me being introduced to Jesus). There has always been this humongous issue that ministries have had with women and their role as wives, mothers, working outside of the home, older women teaching the younger, being the one that was beguiled while Adam sat idly by not doing anything. Well, dad-nab-it...enough!!! It's time to stop all of this blame placing and take some responsibility for your own faults and misgivings. Its high time to stop trying to place women in the mix of bad decisions made by men. And its more then enough time to stop saying God told you to say this to a congregation when He had nothing to do with it!!! I was listening to yet another sermon this morning. I look forward to lis...

Responsibility (part 2)

The head needs direction for the body to do anything. God is the head of all. Jesus kept in constant relationship with God to complete the tasks He was called to do. He said it is finished ( John 19:30 AMP ). Now it is up to man to be able to fulfill his part. Where was he going to get that direction? Who was he going to speak to now that Jesus received His reward in heaven as we are all supposed to be doing? He stayed in constant relationship with God. We are to be in constant relationship with Him. So we begin by denying ourselves and fulfilling the destination He has mapped out for us ( Luke 9:23 AMP ). We learn through the Word...just like Jesus did. His parents came to find Him and He said He was about His Father's business at age 12 ( Luke 2:49 KJV ). This is the instruction and direction for men. He cannot teach himself. Therefore, he attends church services where the pastor, preacher, minister, teacher, and/or evangelist has done nothing but stay before God to know and unde...

If It Wasn't For That Woman...

Earlier this week I was driving to work and listening to some Christian talk radio, as I often do. I love listening to God's Word and receiving revelation knowledge. In this particular show I was listening to, the topic was relationship and specifically, it was the family. I did agree that the break down of the nuclear family means the break down of communities and society as we know it. It was so poignant and profound. The two men who were hosting had a female speaker. They were getting along all so well... and then one of the men asked her a question about the wife and if it were anyone else's responsibility for her happiness but her own. The female speaker hesitated slightly and then said some annoying cliche instead of the Word. Why? Why? Freaking why? She was doing so well before that. She had them eating out of the palm of her hand. It was pleasant and peaceful. Then she says, "I know the old adage is a happy wife, a happy life but it's not how we live. Eac...
